Social Impact

Vision RSM has worked with the Mr Price Foundation since its founding and has, at different times, played the role of implementing partner, strategy consultant, research and reporting partner, as well as management consultant.

Being multi-skilled and having a deep and long-lasting relationship with the organisation has allowed Vision RSM to be of best service to the organisation’s mission in many different ways, and we look forward to the continued development of the Mr Price Foundation.

A particularly poignant piece of work that Vision RSM conducted was a Social Return on Investment analysis and report, which helped quantify the impact of the Mr Price Foundation projects beyond just BBBEE and ESG reporting requirements.

EdTech

Vision RSM has been working with Curious Learning for over 10 years, working on strategy and partnerships. Curious Learning is a non-profit founded to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn to read—regardless of resources or location. Founded by experts from MIT, Tufts and Georgia State University, Curious Learning applies advances in science and technology in its quest to lift millions out of poverty and into global citizenship.

Curious Learning works with partners to curate, localise, distribute and measure free open-source apps (and web content) that empowers everyone to have the opportunity to learn to read. Curious Learning then makes sure they measure what works and what doesn’t, in order to constantly improve and remain “child-centric”.

22 Hours of Play with Curious Learning is equivalent to 2 months of literacy learning in a well-resourced school.

Vision RSM conceptualised and has implemented Bidvest Tank Terminals School’s Program since inception.

Bidvest Tank Terminals has over 15 years added immense value to the schools surrounding its business operations in the Bayhead, establishing itself as a partner of the community and a model for good business practice.

The BTT Schools Program focuses on achieving literacy and numeracy outcomes.

The single biggest determinant of future academic success is functional literacy, hence gamified literacy learning has been prioritised in the Foundation Phase.

Mathematics is the core focus in the Intermediate Phase. Learners are assessed, learning gaps are identified and a personalised catch-up program is undertaken. Learners have improved on average by 2 grades levels, whilst some learners have managed to catch up 4 years of backlogs within a year.

In exploring high impact educational interventions, the Mr Price Foundation TechEd project was conceptualised, implemented, and researched by Vision RSM. Independent impact evaluation suggested this was the most effective and efficient learning intervention.

This experience has helped inform Vision RSM’s approach to using technology in education especially in middle to low-income settings and with marginalised communities. Learner’s in the initial pilot project (2014 – 2017) significantly outperformed provincial and national averages in both literacy and numeracy.

Sport

Vision RSM conceptualised and implements the Danone Nations Cup in South Africa. The Danone Nations Cup is the World’s biggest football tournament for children aged 10 to 12. It is one of the longest standing football properties in South Africa and has been running since 2000.

The team project managed the largest World Final of the Danone Nations Cup to date - 80 countries and 1120 participants took part in the tournament.

We work with a wide range of stakeholders ranging from Government Departments, Football Federations, Embassies and other Corporates to execute the largest primary school football tournament in Africa (3000+ schools). We have an intricate knowledge of the football industry locally and internationally.

Kia Champ Into The Arena is a unique 5-a-side tournament, offered by Kia Motors, the official automotive partner of the FIFA World Cup.

Every year, Kia distributors from all over the world host this exciting tournament in their respective markets in search of the best amateur 5-a-side football team. Winners from each country then move on to the global tournament where they get the opportunity to compete against the winning sides from other participating countries, and ultimately stand a chance to be crowned global champions.

The JumpStart Challenge powered by the Mr Price Foundation is a cycling and running event that raises funds for the JumpStart Programme.

JumpStart unlocks career potential and fast-tracks careers for unemployed youth in the retail and manufacturing sectors. Through life skills and work experience, the skills development programmes bridge the gap between school or tertiary education and the world of work.

By working directly alongside industry leaders and employer partners, we connect up-skilled and work-ready job seekers to career opportunities.
